About the consultation
The family support and children's centre consultation closed on Friday 20th January 2012.
Over 1,300 local people from across Kirklees gave us their views on a proposed new model for children's centres and targeting of family support
services. Thank you to everybody that took part by filling in the consultation questionnaire, attending one of the 15 drop-in sessions, taking part in
a focus group or writing or emailing us.
We ensured the consultation was very wide ranging and that all members of the local community were given the chance to have their say. Your views are
important to us, and every single comment has been read and analysed. The feedback we have received through the consultation has been used to inform
decision-making about next steps.
Unlike other local authorities, Kirklees Council does not plan to close any children's centres.
Though the consultation booklet included lists of proposed lead centres and proposed associate centres, these were just proposals and were always
subject to change following the consultation.
Following the public consultation, the council has now moved away from the concept of lead and associate centres and is instead proposing groupings of
children's centres.
What happens after the public consultation
- January 2012 onwards
A full report on the consultation findings has been put together by an independent market research agency, QA Research. The findings from the
consultation have been used alongside other local information to develop a recommendation to councillors who are members of Kirklees Council
Cabinet, the council's executive decision-making body.
- Tuesday 6th March 2012
