About the site

Crow Nest Park is one of Kirklees' destination parks and is located in the Dewsbury Moor area within the Dewsbury West ward.

Open access play facilities in the park currently includes a multi-age play area with traditional play equipment, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and throughout the park there are various items of outdoor gym equipment.

Last year, we asked what improvements they would like to see within the public play area at Crow Nest Park. Based on the feedback received, we have created a proposed design that we hope will provide an exciting and inclusive play area that better suits the needs of the local community and beyond.

Project overview

The feedback received as part of the original consultation on play in Crow Nest Park came out with the following key points:

  • Accessible surfacing
  • More play for all ages
  • Sensory and inclusive play
  • Improved seating, including picnic benches

Additional funding

In addition to the Playable Spaces investment, there was an opportunity to apply to an external funding provider for financial support towards improvements to this play area at Crow Nest Park. With the support of the local community and the Ward Councillors for Dewsbury West, we are delighted to have been successful in securing this additional funding which will help toward realising this project.

Next Steps

The survey has closed. Officers are reviewing your feedback and will strive to make changes where practicable.
