About the site
Fieldhead Co-Location Centre is in the Birstall and Birkenshaw Ward of Kirklees. Local Councillors, Kirklees Community Association and Kirklees Council have secured funding to improve the play area in the grounds of the Co-Location Centre. Initial proposals have been put together in conjunction with partners. The new design aims to make the play provision accessible to children in the Fieldhead are.

Project overview
Play in the outdoors has the potential to have a large and important role in a child's physical, social and cognitive development, it is also not reserved solely for children, the co-location centre is a resource for all the family and community. We aim to make the play provision more appealing, and accessible for the community, by incorporating natural play with traditional play equipment. Ensuring that our communities can enjoy the fantastic opportunities which play can bring.

Once the consultation has closed, we will review your feedback. The proposals are a draft at this stage and can be adjusted to accommodate your suggestions and/or concerns where practicable.
The Listening to Birstall, Nova and Fieldhead, programme highlighted community concerns around a lack of access to play facilities. Using the Colocation centre, we hope to deliver a play space targeting younger children, and families. Existing play equipment will be removed, along with storage containers which will enhance the overall space available. Children from Fieldhead school, will help shape the design through a school consultation programme. Community engagement will allow the local community to feedback on the overall plan etc.
