About the site

Firthcliffe Road Recreation Ground is located in the Liversedge and Gomersal ward. The site has been allocated S106 funding from a local housing development to improve the play facilities on site.

Project overview

Together with Liversedge and Gomersal Ward Councillors we created a new design for the Play Area and asked the community what they thought about it through an online survey.

In the new designs, it was agreed that the key aims of the play redevelopment project would be to achieve the following:

  • Retain as much equipment in good condition and good play value as possible
  • Replace equipment damaged/destroyed by recent ASB activity
  • Provide facilities for a wider age range
  • Extend the footprint of play to provide more play opportunities on site

The design for play incorporates a mix of new equipment installation, the refurbishment of current equipment, and creating a more natural feel in the play space.

Following a positive response to the proposals, only a few small tweaks to the design were made as follows:

  • All safety surfacing will be rubber mulch
  • The cantilever basket swing will be installed instead of the teen climber
