Project overview

Together with Ward Councillors we created a new design for the Play Area and we shared this with you to gather your thoughts and feedback.

The original design aimed to make the play provision more appealing and accessible to all age groups by using a variety of play equipment types and natural play features including:

• Relocation of play area to the opposite side of the field away from the busy road
• New play equipment
• Natural play features
• Fitness equipment
• Improvements to entrance paths
• New path to the relocated play area

Since the engagement closed, your feedback has been reviewed and some changes have been incorporated into the scheme:

• The climbing unit has been swapped for one which is more suitable for toddlers
• The fencing from the old play area will be repurposed to provide railings along the Exchange Street-side of the recreation ground
• Ward Councillors have also generously contributed towards additional path works

Next steps

We are in the process of tender and procurement to appoint a contractor for the installation the new play area.
