Netherthong Village and The Oval
About the site
Funding is now available to improve both of the children's play areas in Netherthong: The Village Play Area (by the school) and The Oval.
A 'Mile a Day' running track on the field next to the school playground will also be constructed at the same time as the new play area and will be available for public use outside of school hours.

Village Play Area Project Overview
At the Village Play Area we are proposing to:
- replace the existing multi-play unit with a new wooden unit with higher play value
- add additional natural playable features in the wider greenspace
- replace the existing woodchip surfacing with bound rubber shred, improving accessibility
- improve the entrance by the road to provide an accessible access point for pedestrians

The Oval Play Area Project Overview
At The Oval we are proposing to:
- replace the existing unit with a new climbing unit
- replace the existing safety surfacing with grass (rubber) matting
- retain and refurbish the existing swings
- add additional natural play features
- add a number of smaller, ornamental trees

The Project Team have now appointed a contractor for the construction works which are planned to start in Summer 2023.
