Scholes Recreation Ground (Moorlands)
About the site
Scholes Recreation Ground (Moorlands) is located in the Holme Valley South ward of Kirklees. Together with Ward Councillors, we selected this site for redevelopment as it was one of the oldest play areas in Holme Valley North and needed updating.
Works have now completed on the new play area.
The Play Value of the site increased by 156% upon completion.
Project overview
Play in the outdoors has the potential to have a large and important role in a child's physical, social and cognitive development, it is also not reserved solely for children and young people - it should be encouraged at all stages of life, with many additional benefits experienced by individuals and communities.
We aimed to make the play provision at this site more appealing, and accessible to all age groups by incorporating natural play with traditional play equipment, ensuring that our communities are able to enjoy the fantastic opportunities which play can bring.
Together with Ward Councillors we've created a new design for the Play Area. We're interested to hear what you think about the proposed facilities and ideas for future play facilities on Scholes Rec.
