We used findings from a 2021 Hospice UK report, Equality in hospice and end-of-life care: challenges and change to identify population groups we felt were more likely to experience inequalities in end-of-life care and support in Kirklees. Although these groups are not mutually exclusive, for the purposes of understanding the specific barriers facing different population groups, we held separate discussion group sessions with representatives from organisations supporting these groups to explore local inequalities within each theme.

We used thematic analysis to group and analyse responses from interviews and focus groups, and present quotes to capture local voices.

For each group, we have summarised what we know from existing evidence and what we've learnt from local insight, including recommendations specific to each population group. Sources of evidence used in these summaries can be found in the evidence and resources section of the report.
