Approximately 466 homes owned by the council are managed through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract known as Excellent Homes for Life EHL. There are both general needs homes, found throughout Kirklees, and three Extra Care Housing schemes - Sandy Mount, Meadow Green and Woodland Court.

Tenancy information

People living in any EHL managed homes are council tenants. The tenancies are managed on the council's behalf by Pinnacle Group Ltd who also carry out any maintenance and repairs and look after the communal spaces including the external grounds and car parking.

Tenancy 24-hour help desk service

Pinnacle Group Ltd provides a 24-hour help desk service. Tenants can use this to report housing repairs and raise any questions or concerns about the management or maintenance of their home or tenancy. The helpdesk number is: 0330 036 1517.

General Needs Housing

EHL General Needs housing is one and two-bedroom flats and includes 35 flats specifically designed for wheelchair users. These are available to rent through the council's housing register and Choose 'n' Move system. Further information can be found on joining the housing register.

Extra Care Housing

EHL Extra care housing is a type of specialist housing which is designed to maintain the independence of older people (usually 50+), who have care and/or support needs. Further information can be found on Extra Care Housing.

Extra Care facilities to hire

Within each of the Extra Care Schemes there are communal rooms that are available for hire to tenants and local community including a commercial-standard kitchen and dining room.

Tenants are also able to book time in the tenants' lounges to hold parties and other celebrations.
