Dewsbury Market Place
Due to planned works to improve Dewsbury town centre and the Market, it is expected this space will be not be available for events from October 2021 until approximately July 2023.
The historic Dewsbury market completed its move to the new location in 1937, since then its original location was transformed into the main route through the town centre before being returned to a pedestrianised square that faces Dewsbury Town Hall. It is in close proximity to shops and banks and features two small permanent covered seating areas.
It has hosted many family events such as Dewsbury on Sea, Spirit, Christmas light switch ons and From Beijing to Dewsbury, a celebration of the UK's successful bid to stage the 2012 Olympics!.
The space is often used in conjunction with the Town Hall Apron to make a larger event area. This would require a road closure application for Long Cause Way which splits the two areas.
