There is a hierarchy of sustainable travel. The further up the hierarchy, the greener and more sustainable the mode of travel. The hierarchy is:
- Digital communication
- Walking
- Cycling
- Public and shared transport
- Electric vehicles and car sharing
- Internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and car sharing
- Air
Walking and cycling
Kirklees is a great place to walk and cycle. Making journeys using one of these modes of transport is not only good for the environment but also good for your health too.
