Kirklees Local Plan Update Early Engagement

What we're doing

This is the first stage of early engagement on the Kirklees Local Plan update. The Local Plan provides a planning framework against which planning applications will be decided for the period 2024-2043. It will also set out where development for housing and employment will be located. We are inviting views through an online survey to inform the vision, objectives, challenges and opportunities to shape the new Local Plan which is compliant with national policy but reflects locally derived planning policies.

More information on what we're doing

The link to the online survey will be on the council's website via the Kirklees Development Plan page. The survey will be supported by an explanatory document which will explain more about the Local Plan and what the government requires from a statutory development plan. The ink will be promoted through all forms of social media. The timescales for receiving comments are from: 25th November 2024 - 28th February 2025. What happened?

When we have the assessed the responses of the online survey, we will undertake a second stage of early engagement to feedback on the issues raised and how we are going to use the responses to shape the Local Plan. Details will be updated following the close of the early engagement in Feb 2025.

What difference did the work make?

To be reported at a later date following close of early engagement.
