There are many different ways to recycle in Kirklees in addition to standard green bin collections, such as bring banks and the four household waste recycling centres, which are free for all Kirklees residents to use.

Bring banks

There are hundreds of bring banks at various sites across the borough that facilitate the efficient recycling and reuse of glass and textiles.

Glass

Glass can be recycled over and over again as long as it's clean. Each year, we collect and recycle around 5,500 tonnes of your glass, and any colour glass can go into any colour bottle bank. If using these facilities, we ask that if the banks are full, that glass isn't left on the ground as it can get smashed and injure people and pets, and can attract fly-tipping.

Textiles

Textiles can be reused or recycled. Items for reuse can be donated to charities directly, at bring banks throughout the district, or you can use the Reuse Shop containers at Emerald Street, Weaving Lane, and Bromley Farm household waste recycling centres. Items for recycling can be taken to any of our household waste recycling centres.
