Taxi practical tests

• The test lasts no more than 1 hour in total
• Includes a drive of around 40 mins
• The test costs £94

There are 5 parts to the driving test:

• ID/licence check
• Highway Code questions
• Medical fitness and an eyesight check
• Vehicle check to make sure your vehicle is roadworthy
• General driving ability and a manoeuvre

• If you are intending to apply for your licence with Kirklees Council you need to first read the Fitness and Suitability statement.

• All tests are run from Vine Street, Huddersfield, HD1 6NT

Highway Code Revision Guide Questions

You must bring:

• Your driving licence
• A car to take the test in
• Have an insurance certificate to show that you, the driver, are insured to drive the vehicle in which you intend to take this test, and that the vehicle is specifically covered for the purpose of a Hackney Carriage/ Private Hire Test or Assessment and covers you for the duration of the test accounting for any potential traffic delays.

• A code from: View of share your driving licence information to allow the examiner to check your licence
• If you are using a licensed taxi vehicle to take the test, you will need to bring proof that you are the licensed taxi driver for that vehicle (your taxi badge).

Your test will be cancelled, with no refund if you arrive without the correct documentation.

• You will need to get in touch with us to cancel or rearrange your test. You will need your booking reference for us to locate your booking
• If you cancel or reschedule your test less than 5 working days before the test date, you will be charged the full test fee
• If you cancel more than 5 days in advance you don't pay anything extra
