North Light Film Studios

One of the largest independent film studios in the North, North Light Film Studios has four studios providing a flexible space for film and TV productions. Facilities include a large parking area for unit base vehicles, props store, kitchen, construction and painter's workshop, art department and account office.

Featured locations

Recent productions include scenes filmed for the BBC1 TV series Gentleman Jack at The Lawrence Batley Theatre and Sky TV's Cobra at The George Hotel in St George's Square, both in Huddersfield town centre. The feature film A Monster Calls was shot in a variety of locations in Marsden and the CBBC programme Hank Zipzer which shot at Birkdale School.

Oakwell Hall & Country Park featured in the BBC1 period drama, Jonathon Norell and Mr Strange, and the TV miniseries, Gunpowder.

Jericho was based at North Film Studios and used a number of locations across the district.

BBC1 drama Love, Lies and Records was filmed at Dewsbury Town Hall with the old courtroom also featuring in ITV's Emmerdale. Of course, the iconic BBC1 comedy Last of the Summer Wine was filmed around Holmfirth and the Holme and Colne Valleys for over 35 years, with visitors still flocking to the area to see famous locations such as Nora Batty's steps, Sid's Café and the Summer Wine pub!
