Supporting a strategic approach
Our top-tier strategiesPartnership-led top tier strategies

We have a shared vision for Kirklees. For it to be a district that combines a strong, sustainable economy with a great quality of life, leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality where people enjoy better health throughout their lives.
This vision is supported by our eight shared outcomes, and we recognise changes in any one of these outcomes impacts others. For example, a population that is healthier and well means a stronger workforce and a more sustainable economy, and a sustainable economy means more disposable income to help children to have the best start in life. There are countless other examples.
We also have a shared commitment to tackling inequalities, where outcomes for local places and communities are unfair and unequal.
Our top-tier strategies are partnership strategies not just held by one organisation. The three key strategies are: the Kirklees Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Inclusive Economy Strategy, and Environment Strategy. They explain what we are doing and plan to do, together, in Kirklees, what our opportunities and challenges are, and the role each of us has to take to make this happen. The Inclusive Communities Framework (ICF) provides an approach to working with communities underpinning this work. Success in one strategy depends on the others also being acted upon. With a shared sense of purpose, we can bring our collective insight, expertise, and resources together to achieve greater impact and make our local places even better.
