Our training programme this year is:

Why dead birds matter: What can local people from the past teach us for caring for the natural world?

  • Delivered by: Frances Stonehouse
  • Date: 28th March 2025
  • Time: 2:30-3:30pm
  • Location: Tolson Museum

Learning Outcomes

Delivered by our curator, this session will allow you to understand more about local people from the past who have fought for a better world, focused on the environment and natural world.

Be inspired by the important people from the past, gaining knowledge which can be applied in history, geography, science, English, art, and citizenship lessons. See natural history collections up close and consider how these can be used to think about the impact of climate change in the future.

This session will conclude with ideas on how to link the climate crisis to other subjects in schools, and ways you can manage climate anxiety amongst young people by showing them the power of individual action. There will also be an opportunity to see our free climate change loan box.
