Public engagement report
Public Engagement Report for a new Museum and Art Gallery for Huddersfield.
This report includes the results of extensive research carried out during 2020/21. It involved people in Kirklees in developing a vision for a new museum and art gallery for Huddersfield.
A survey received over 700 responses. In addition, there is feedback from one-to-one interviews with targeted charity leaders, representatives of organisations, and focus groups carried out with underrepresented audiences. This targeted engagement enabled valuable feedback to be received from those who never or rarely visit museums.
All engagement, including the survey, was online due to the challenges involved in face-to-face research during COVID-19 restrictions.
The engagement was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Bringing out the Best project. This is a strategic programme which focuses on long-term measures to strengthen and support heritage locally. This included the museum sites and collections managed by Kirklees Council, as well as broader heritage activity.
