Getting here

By foot

You can find us in Ravensknowle Park on Wakefield Road.

By bus

Wakefield Road is busy bus route with the 232, 261, 83, D1 all stopping very near the museum.

By bike

We have three bicycle racks just outside the museum.

By car

We're in Ravensknowle Park on Wakefield Road which is a main arterial route into Huddersfield. Please use postcode HD5 8DJ for Sat Navs.

Parking is free at the museum.

Gift shop and refreshments

Gift shop

Tolson shop reflects the museum collections, selling a beautiful gemstone selection together with natural history, transport and Victorian inspired ranges. You will also find local history books and memorabilia, unique art and a wide range of traditional toys and pocket money souvenirs, as well snacks, drinks and ice creams.

Refreshments

Hot and cold drinks, confectionery and ice creams can be purchased in the Tolson shop and consumed in the Cafe space or the new outdoor seating area in the museum forecourt.

Toilets and baby changing

We have toilets for visitors located on the ground floor. These include baby changing facilities and a fully accessible toilet.

Accessibility information

The ground floor is fully accessible but the first floor can only be accessed via stairs as there is no lift. We have disabled parking and a fully accessible toilet. We also have a hearing loop installed and our front of house staff have undergone disability and equality training.

Group visits

Organised groups are very welcome although booking is essential.

Admission is free during normal opening hours and charges are applicable outside of normal hours. Contact us to book.

  • Take part in Parent Sanctuary's parent and baby walks, every Monday at 1pm from Tolson Museum.
