Please note: these are not accredited but designed to develop confidence with writing, reading, listening and speaking skills.

Build your confidence in digital and online safety

Across Kirklees we have digital support available to suit everyone, from beginners to intermediate through to more advanced users. Digital Hubs are local community-based centres offering a range of support services to help you with digital inclusion.

We can provide you with access to digital support in the form of self-learning tools, free online courses, support cafes and links to providers for more advanced qualifications.

Develop your skills in the creative sector

Creativity, culture and the arts can help improve the quality of all our lives. We want to help provide more opportunity for people to develop their creative talents and support more pathways into creative careers. You can gain an understanding of the creative arts sector and the many roles and opportunities available. This could be done through employment opportunities, volunteering, skills development or through guidance for emerging entrepreneurs. We provide information and advice to those looking to unlock their creative talents.

Develop new skills employers are looking for

Skills bootcamps help you to develop new skills that employers are looking for. They're a great opportunity to train in a new industry or progress your current career. They take up to 16 weeks to complete and are flexible, so you can fit learning around your family or other commitments. In Kirklees we offer bootcamps that help adults learn the necessary knowledge and skills for new jobs in expanding sectors, such as digital, engineering, construction, manufacturing and green technologies.

Volunteering in schools

There are several opportunities to gain experience and develop skills in the education sector by volunteering in schools. The Volunteering for Success programme is delivered by our partners at Kirklees Success Centre and include courses such as Reading Friends, Speech Stars and Maths Mates.
